Edgar Charles, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Edgar is a physician-scientist and global drug development leader with over two decades of experience spanning the pharmaceutical industry, academic research, and clinical medicine. Edgar most recently served as Vice President and Senior Global Program Lead for Immunology at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he oversaw the strategic direction and execution of the immunology pipeline across rheumatology, pulmonology, dermatology, and gastroenterology. He has a proven track record of advancing therapies from first-in-human studies through global commercialization and his leadership was instrumental in the investigational development of deucravacitinib in autoimmune diseases and admilparant in pulmonary fibrosis. Prior to his tenure at BMS, Edgar held clinical research roles at Merck. His academic career includes a faculty appointment at Rockefeller University, where he conducted research on virus-induced autoimmunity and served on multiple institutional leadership committees.

Dr. Charles holds an MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and an MSc in Clinical and Translational Investigation from Rockefeller University. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at New York University School of Medicine and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor on multiple patent applications relating to immunology and liver disease.
