We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced accounting professional to join a growing, dynamic company as Senior Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. Reporting to the Controller, this is a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
SEC Reporting:
- Own the financial statement disclosure process to ensure all requirements are met; stay updated on new pronouncements impacting disclosures; complete disclosure checklists and maintain a repository of internal practices and peer company disclosures
- Manage the preparation and support for all areas of our external reporting process, including EPS calculations, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, and Statement of Stockholders’ Equity
- Manage all financial aspects of our SEC filings (e.g. 10-K, 10-Q, etc.) including drafting financial statements in collaboration legal counsel, executive management, and our external auditors
Technical Accounting and Compliance:
- Leader in technical accounting matters, including research and drafting of memos, design implementation plans, draft disclosures and accounting policies
- Leader in technical accounting, including research and drafting of memos, designing implementation plans, drafting disclosures and accounting policies
- Implement significant new accounting and SEC pronouncements including communicating and educating financial management on the updates
- Oversee equity accounting process, including equity awards administration and calculation of stock-based compensation expense and related disclosures
- Review the most complex and technical areas of our financial close and reporting process, including license agreements, leases, share-based compensation, leases, and income taxes
- Play a key role Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance efforts, including the scoping and assessment of processes and controls, as well as the execution of financial reporting and equity processes controls
- Support controller in the monthly financial statement close including review of documentation, reconciliations, and journal entries in other technical areas (e.g. Investments)
- Coordination of the external audit process with the audit team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and CPA required
- 7+ years of experience in accounting (public and/or industry) with required exposure to public company reporting; biotech experience a plus
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations
- Extensive involvement in preparing and/or reviewing technical accounting memos
- Experience drafting financial statements and SEC filings a plus
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage a process, multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team
This position may be based out of our Wellesley, MA office or in the greater Seattle area as a remote position.
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $150,000-$175,000. Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience, and competitive market value.
